By Barry J. Kughn, manager of Valhalla Funeral Home
A Candlelight Memorial Service to remember and honor those who have passed away will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 8, 2013 in the chapel of Vallhalla Funeral Home, 5317 Bessemer Super Highway in Midfield, AL.
Snowflake ornaments inscribed with the names of those who have departed (from October 31, 2012 to October 31, 2013) will adorn our beautiful Tree of Memory. The angel resting at the top symbolizes those late loved ones are now in the arms of angels and provide comfort to those left behind as they cope in their own way of loss.
Scripture, prayer, a litany of responsive readings will also be part of the candlelight memorial service ceremony, which is conducted by the members of the funeral home staff. Each family member will be given a special poem, and can take home their loved one’s snowflake ornament to place on their own tree at the conclusion of the service.
We know the holidays are a beautiful season that can be very difficult for those who have suffered losses. During the weeks before and after Christmas, many of us are busy with gatherings, family events and celebrations, but it can be a time of great sadness for those experiencing the first holidays without their loved one. This is one reason why we see the importance of reaching out to those we have served in the past year to encourage, support, and help family members cope with grief during the holiday.
Please mark this special memorial service on your calendar, and also share the date and time with others, so that all can come together for this special service to remember their loved ones in a meaningful and honorable way.
We want to thank you for the trust you have placed in us during your time of need. We are honored to serve you and trust that our services were acceptable to you.
